Poland – England @ Saski Park 1999

In 1999 Seven England fans ended up in hospital after this game. Most of them were stabbed during  vicious clashes with rival Polish supporters in Warsaw. The hooligans fought with each other in Saski park. The clashes were said to be pre-arranged. The Polish group was a coalition of hooligans from Lechia Gdansk, Legia Warschau and Wisla Krakow.  Both groups had even numbers, but the Polish heavliy outnumbered the English in weapons. It was not the first time both teams clashed. In the nineties things the Poles often clashed with the English. It happened in ’91 and ’97, but the most violence was in ’93 when there were massive fights in and outside the stadium. Some of the pictures are made by Stephan Peleman.
